Volunteers with the non-profit Flashes of Hope create portraits that reflect the courage and dignity of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Allison Clarke, whose 9-year-old son Quinn recovered from a soft-tissue sarcoma diagnosed at 20 months, came up with the idea of using the pro bono services of award-winning photographers and make-up artists to capture the spirits of kids. Flashes of Hope’s photographers have taken portraits of more than 4,500 children. The images are stunning reminders of these kids’ beauty and strength, and have made recovering children feel better about themselves.
