Nevin S. Scrimshaw, 95, world leader in nutrition science in academia and developing countries
Dr. Nevin Scrimshaw, who was awarded the World Food Prize in 1991, founded the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama after moving to Guatemala more than 70 years ago. During a career shaping and influencing the field of international nutrition in developing nations, he also founded the department of nutrition and food science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the world hunger program of the United Nations University, and the Nevin Scrimshaw International Nutrition Foundation at Tufts University.
